In a JRR quilt you construct the top by simply sewing one jelly roll strip to the next until you run out of strips. In my quilt, prior to piecing, I cut the jelly roll strips to various lengths and sewed them to strips of a Kona Snow. Once I had pieced my strips of jelly roll strips and Snow, I pieced the strips to solid strips of Snow. This created a quilt top with lots of negative, white space which highlighted each of the prints in the collection. I quilted this one with an organic cross hatch, similar to the motif used on the In Good Company quilt I shared in Flosstube #8.

Welcome! Things look a bit different around here, don't they? I've made some changes. QuiltModerne has become Stitchologie. Please see this post for more information.
Why? While I was passionate about the original vision I had for QuiltModerne, it never quite came to fruition. I was never comfortable with things over there, I felt a bit confined, like I should focus solely on my quilts. I do more than quilt. While quilting remains my primary focus, I also knit and cross stitch. It never felt right to share my other stitchy-related handmade items on the old site. So what can you expect from this new site? In many respects, things will be business as usual. I will continue to share images and blog pots about my finished projects, I will still have a Calendar page with information on what I've got going on and where you can find me or my work. There wiil also be tab to take you directly to my YouTube channel... which is a work in progress. Video is a new medium for me and I'm still working on it. What else?? I've decided Etsy is not the selling platform for me. I tried hard to make Etsy work for me, but since most of my work is commissioned, there were long stretches of time where my Etsy shop sat empty. I won't get into how that platform works, but suffice it to say, Etsy was not right for me. Therefore, when I do have quilts or other stitched items for sale, I will sell them here on the Stitchologie site. I This new site is still a work in progress, so please excuse the mess. I will be adding new content frequently over the coming weeks. I am excited about this new adventure and hope you will come back to visit soon! Sarah |
